Making Chocolate Candy Molds

Chocolate is one of the best ingredients to use for candy molding. You can create different shapes and sizes from rose to heart shapes. The secret to making chocolate candy molds is that the mold does all the work for you and all you have to do is take your melted chocolate and pour it in. The best kind of cocoa you can use is the variety high in cocoa butter content. The finished chocolate molds are easy to handle and have a shiny finish.

To create your chocolate molds, learn the two ways to melt chocolates. Put your chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat it in the microwave for a minute, remove and stir it. Place it back in the microwave for another minute. This process can be repeated until chocolate melts in to the desire consistency. Be sure to stir the chocolate each time.

Another way to melt your chocolate is by placing it in a double boiler, if you have one. Bring the water to boil and remove from heat. Put the chocolate in the top sauce pan. Stir it until it melts. Be careful not to splash water or moisture into your chocolate. The steam melts the chocolate. Do not put the chocolate in the water.

For chucky chocolate, add crushed nuts and stir them into the melting chocolate. When done, pour the melted chocolate in the mold using a spoon to fill each mold. Tap the bottom to remove air bubbles. It will leave holes in your chocolate if you don’t.

For making chocolate candy molds, there are two molds you could use. The first is the flexible plastic molds with 3-dimensional shapes and are flat in one side. The other mold is called two part molds used when you want a hollowed out shape like a chocolate bunny. You pour into two sides and then join them together with a clip.

Tips in creating the best mold:

• Use tempered chocolate for molds.

• Use clean molds that are dry and no scratches.

• Wipe the molds with clean dry cloth for shiny surface effect.

• Cool your molds at room temperature.

• Tap your molds after filling it with melted chocolates to release air bubbles.

For packaging your mold creations, place them in multi-colored foil for fun presentation or attractive gift presentation. You can also create baskets or boxes. You can go a long way in making chocolate candy molds to give as presents to your friends or for desserts in a potluck.
