Fun Time With Children

Children are amazing. Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers are all lovable and funny as they amaze you with their growth and development. Sometimes, just a smile from their face brings delights and enjoyment that words cannot comprehend.

However, children are also demanding, exhausting, and unpredictable. We may never understand how much sacrifice a parent makes until we become one. Here are some suggestions on activities you may explore with your young ones that will engage the two of you in having a wonderful time getting to know each other.

Young babies are fairly stationary. But as he/she begins to recognize you and smile, you can begin to play “Peekaboo.” Anywhere and everywhere, peekaboo games are always possible.

Your baby hears everything you say and sing. Your talking and singing during these early months lay a foundation for his or her future use of language. “Itsy-bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Jack and Jill, If you’re Happy and You Know It” – these are some of the classic you may sing together with your child.

For some reasons, children are fascinating with ball. Buy a few extra and have some fun in throwing, catching and rolling it.

Bubbles will be a delightful part of your life for many years to come. As you blow the bubbles, play games by chasing, popping, counting, or catching them. As your child learns to blow bubbles himself/herself, ask him/her to blow high or low, in front of or behind you, above or below your finger.

Your child will enjoy using play dough for many years. Young toddlers love to squeeze, push, pound, roll, and flatten it. Fingers are the best molding tool to start with. Later, you may add miniature rolling pins, toy hammer, plastic cookie cutters or even a garlic press.

For children, anytime is playtime. It’s how children enjoy life, and how they learn about the world around them. Playing with your child is essential to establishing and strengthening a loving family relationship. Set aside quality times with your child each day. The rewards are beyond imagination.
